Happy Friday friends. I’m here to tell you about a new project I’ve started and to also share a poem so I’m not just showing up in your inbox empty handed, promoting something.
First the new thing! I started another Substack that’s all about beauty stuff and fashion and fragrance. It will be very different from this space but I thought some of you might be interested in what I’m doing over there. You can read more about it here and subscribe here. It’s called the Dry Down Diaries and I am already having a lot of fun with it. It weirdly feels more vulnerable than the writing I do here which is often personal, unedited, and stream of conscious. Over there I’ll be doing more essays and reviews and exploring the world of scent which I’ve long been fascinated with. Check it out, and let me know what you think.
OK now the poem. I want more poetry in my life in 2024. I thought it would be fun to once in a while pull one of my dusty poetry books off my bookshelves and share a photo of a poem I have earmarked. Today’s poem is by Sandra Cisneros who I was pretty obsessed with in college. I wrote a whole collection of poems that were heavily influenced by her. This one is sweet and warm and felt right for a rainy Friday, which it is here in San Francisco. Enjoy!
More poetry in 2024! Yes! And I love the one you shared. I use poetry in my art, and this is a good one ;)
